The Relationship of Knowledge, Attitude, and Competence about Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation on Student Nurses

Abstract
Purpose: This study was to investigate the relationship of knowledge, attitude, and confidence of performance about cardiopulmonary resuscitation on student nurses.

Method: The participants were 332 student nurses who 3rd and 4th year class experienced nursing clinical practicum over 2 sessions in G-do. Data were collected from December, 2007 to January, 2008 by the questionnaire. Descriptive statistic, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson¡¯s correlation coefficients with SPSS win 12.0 were used for data analysis.

Result: The mean score for knowledge was 0.50, for attitude, 3.86 and for confidence, 3.05. There were significant positive correlations with in knowledge, attitude, and confidence of performance about cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Conclusion: Based on the finding of this study, it is needed to continue a nursing education programs on cardiopulmonary resuscitation that including to promote confidence of CPR performance on student nurses.
